GenMail helps you see what has happened to your family
tree. GenMail is a free service provided by OneGreatFamily to
let you know the results of our ongoing efforts to grow your
personal family tree. Each GenMail will show you the first 20 names
of individuals who have been merged in your family tree during the
week. Each merge may result in the addition of new individuals to
your family tree and in new collaboration
opportunities.
GenMail also includes summary information for
all that is happening on OneGreatFamily in overall matches and
merges. This information, found in the left-hand column of each
GenMail, will include the following site statistics:
- Number of new individual merges
- Number of new individual hints
- Number of new family merges
- Number of new family hints
- Average individual merges per group
- Average individual hints per group
- Average family merges per group
- Average family hints per group
These numbers are also
included here in the newsletter (in the left hand column above).
These statistics will help you understand how your family
tree compares with the other family branches available in
OneGreatFamily.com and provides context for the group numbers
included within the GenMail message.
If you have not
received any merges or hints in your Genmail, you may need to enter
more information about your personal family tree. You may be able to
get that additional information by talking to other family members
or going through old family documents or photographs. Adding
information to your family tree provides more potential links within
the OneGreatFamily database.
GenMail has proven to be a
valuable tool for seeing the growth of family trees through
OneGreatFamily. Make sure to check your GenMail every week so that
you can see the constant growth of the OneGreatFamily
tree.

Thanks OneGreatFamily! The following success story
shows what can happen when OneGreatFamily finds information in your
family tree that can be matched and merged with others (edited for
punctuation):
Hi There.
In 1999 I met my new wife. We
had known each other 23 years ago. In the few months that followed I
got to know Mr. Walter Nouch again, and their family history. Walter
thought that he was the last of the Nouch line. Sadly Walter passed
away on the 8th of May 2000. He had fulfilled one dream to see in
the year 2000, but not the other of finding out his full
history.
In July 2000 Cheryl and I married, and I vowed to
myself to find any Nouch's left. Well thanks to OneGreatFamily and
the power of technology I have found many living relatives of the
original line of them dating way back to 1715 (and I think even
beyond that!). I have at present over 1892 names and 653 families
with 496 variants of Nouch's and still growing!
A big thanks
to all who have helped and a Happy Christmas for 2005

you turn over a new leaf, you discover a whole new tree"
